SINGAPORE : For nine days, the Marina South area will be transformed into a huge carnival atmosphere.
The Carnival@Marina promises to have activities for the young and old during the National Day celebrations.
When you visit the Carnival @ Marina starting this Saturday, you can have a joyride on one of the SAF Light Strike Vehicles.
If you crave the need for speed, you can watch more than 120 speed demons battle it out in the drag racing event.
This is the first time in 35 years that drag racing has been brought back onto Singapore roads. Said Colonel Yeo See Peng, chairman of Carnival@Marina: "Carnival at Marina will cover an area of 1.2 by 1.5 hectares, that's equal to about 180 soccer fields. We hope to attract up to 500,000 people on ground. The military vehicles, plus the SCDF and Police vehicles - there are easily more than 200 for displays and rides."
But if the thrills and spills are just too much, you can also take time out to soak in the static displays.
Or you can chill out at the Celebrate Singapore Festival which is filled with attractions for children, such as the interactive robotic displays.
You can also keep yourself entertained in all the cultural performances, free concerts and movies.
As roads leading to the Carnival will be closed, carnival-goers are advised to take public transport.
The Carnival activities will kick off this Saturday and last till August 14.
